Module 1 - Business Start Up
Module 2 - Marketing and Communications
This 20 hour module will give learners the opportunity to identify the benefits of marketing when starting a new business. They will gain knowledge of how marketing should be used to assist with a business start-up.
They will learn how to use marketing to increase customer satisfaction by being able to focus on their potential target market and apply marketing techniques to increase market share. Learners will understand the importance of the marketing concept to ensure they are focusing on the current needs and wants of the customer. The value of carrying out market research and the importance of considering and developing the marketing mix to a successful business will also be applied.
Learners should also be familiar with the external factors that will impact any new business and be able to understand how these affect the new business.
Learners will also become familiar with the different types of communication required to start a business and how these communication skills will assist in building the reputation of that business. They must look at how they communicate and how it adds value to their business transactions. Barriers to effective communication will also be considered.
Module 3 - Customer Care
This module will give learners the opportunity to develop knowledge and gain skills in customer care. This module is approximately 20 hours long and will give an insight into the importance of customer care when starting a business.
Learners will become familiar with the term customer care. They will explore different types of customers and the means of providing good customer care in the business. The ways to ensure customer satisfaction, develop customer loyalty and promote customer retention will be explored.
In the service industry customer satisfaction is one of the most important business aspects. Learners will examine how to identify customer needs and explore the differences among customer needs, wants and expectations. This will be supported by appreciating the importance of product and service knowledge and emphasising the benefits provided.
Learners will discover how to build positive customer relationships. They will examine reasons why customers become dissatisfied and learn different methods to manage these customers. The importance of feedback will be introduced. Different feedback methods will be presented. Learners will focus on how to use customer feedback to improve their services.
Finally, the significance of communication will be discussed. The knowledge and choice of different types and various aspects of communication can ensure positive outcomes. Learners will learn about barriers of communication to how to avoid them during their business activities.
Module 4 - Nutritional Aspects
Module 5 - Green and Zero Miles Provision
This 20-hour module will give learners the opportunity to know and understand the meaning and importance of zero-miles provision for their proposed restaurants.
They are restaurants that offer their customers menu ingredients which are, entirely or in large part, locally provided.
But what does zero-miles mean? What are the economic and social benefits of zero-miles catering? This module will answer these questions:
the complex meaning of buying zero-miles products, bio-sustainability, economic aspects and how to find zero-miles products.
Module 6 - Cooking Green
This 20-hour module will give learners the opportunity to learn many aspects concerning plant based cuisine. What a plant based meal is,
what plant based consumers are looking for and the potential for using green cuisine. Learners will become confident with new ingredients,
their use and preparation. The creation of a typical and complete plant based menu from the starter through to the dessert.
At the end of the unit the student will be able to prepare their own plant based menu.
This module will give learners the opportunity to know and understand the basic rules, laws and regulations related to business start-up of a popup restaurant in various countries.
Moreover the module aims at making learners understand the importance of legislation and regulations in the context of home restaurants: provision of drinks and food, elements of food hygiene, hygiene in the workplace, licensing, supplier requirements, licensing, false mandatory paths statements; consumer protection, security and administrative management.
